About & Contact

I have always loved art and admired artists. The ability to realise visions that surprise and delight is very special. The right piece of art is something that can lift your mood day after day, year after year. I can’t paint, I wish I could, I try regularly. However I am a good photographer and for many years that is how I have created images and shared my vision of the world, and through that medium I have done my best to add to the worlds delight. But I still want to paint and a photograph does not quite satisfy my longing to create a unique expression of my vision.

So the photograph becomes the starting point of my craft. From this point digital tools allow me to work on an image and to take it beyond reportage. It becomes something unique that can surprise and visualise something different, something that you have not seen before. Art can be described as the combination of creativity, craft and tools. So my art is made up of a digital environment that provides my tools, the use of these tools is my craft and creativity comes from a combination of photography (to anchor the work here in our world and capture views that we know) and abstraction to isolate the subject and elevate it out of the clutter of its surroundings.

I love cities, their architecture and the way that we interact with these built environments. I want to share the magic I see in them. Not just the reportage but also that wonder and delight that is just in the corner of our eye. Familiar yet different, mundane yet magical.

My favourite canvas is night when the lights are on, even better when it rains and the city explodes with reflected light and colour. Abstraction is everywhere around you and the lights and shadows are fighting for real estate. Every step you take is a transition and every time you move you see something change. I call this the crystal city and it is my template for seeing the world and producing my art. Day or night, city or tree, each picture is crafted to capture a vision of light and colour.

So what does it all add up to and what do you get when you buy one of my works?

A meticulously crafted image that is built from multiple layers, each individually engineered and combined in a process that is remarkably similar to the way that the old masters built depth and transparency into oil paintings. Printed onto grained aluminium it shines and glitters. It is literally a unique piece of art. Only one is ever made. It is a collaboration between you and I… I have loved the exercise of creation and I hope that you will love the way that it offers and surprise and delight in your space.

My work can be found in homes and offices around the world. Each and every piece a single, unique vision that you and I have both decided to invest in.
